The Dhyana Centre is a self-governing branch (Lodge) of the Theosophical Society in England and Wales, registered charity no. 1167737.
The Centre operates as a community service in London for the sole purpose of teaching meditation and encouraging its practice as a spiritual discipline. All its activities are free of charge, being funded entirely by voluntary donations from its members and students. It is strictly ‘non-trading’, has no paid staff and no commercial links of any type.
Like any Theosophical Society branch, the Dhyana Centre has a formal membership structure details of which can be seen on the Membership page, but all its sessions are public and open to non-members (fellowship of the Theosophical Society is entirely voluntary).
From its inception in 1991 until mid-2023, the Centre was based at the Theosophical Society’s headquarters at 50 Gloucester Place in Marylebone. When the latter decided to close 50 Gloucester Place in order to move to a new administrative base in Nottingham, the Centre was obliged to re-locate and is now continuing its functions as before at two separate venues, both in central London and readily accessible by public transport (see here for details).
